Gameplay

1. Read the chapter

Each chapter presents a moment where the community's choices shape what happens next. Read, then connect your Xaman wallet to cast your observation.

2. Vote

Your vote is signed with your wallet and woven permanently into the XRP Ledger. You can change your mind and vote again — votes cannot be removed from the ledger, but only your most recent vote counts toward the outcome.

3. Earn an Observer Artifact

When voting closes, observers who chose the winning option are eligible to receive an Observer Artifact — an NFT minted on the XRP Ledger. A close vote produces more artifacts; a landslide produces fewer.

4. Build Resonance

Each artifact you hold increases your Resonance — a measure of your accumulated influence. Higher Resonance gives your future votes more weight.

5. Trade

Artifacts are standard XRP Ledger NFTs. Hold them to build Resonance or trade them on any XRPL NFT marketplace.

What is a blockchain?

A blockchain is a ledger maintained by thousands of independent computers worldwide. Once something is written to it, no single party — not even the original author — can alter or erase it. Eigenthrope uses this property to make your votes permanent and publicly verifiable.

What is the XRP Ledger?

The XRP Ledger is an open-source blockchain that has been running continuously since 2012. It settles transactions in 3–5 seconds at a cost of a fraction of a cent — fast and cheap enough to record individual votes and mint collectibles without the environmental overhead of older chains.

What is a crypto wallet?

A crypto wallet doesn't hold currency the way a physical wallet holds cash. It holds a private key — a secret code that proves you own a particular address on the blockchain. When you "sign" a vote in Eigenthrope, your wallet uses that key to create a cryptographic signature. Nobody can forge it, and you don't need to trust us — the ledger verifies it independently.

What is Xaman?

Xaman is a self-custody wallet app for the XRP Ledger. It stores your private key on your phone and lets you sign transactions by approving a push notification or scanning a QR code. Eigenthrope uses Xaman to sign your votes — you stay in control of your keys at all times.

What is an NFT?

A non-fungible token is a unique digital record on a blockchain. Unlike currency where every unit is interchangeable, each NFT is distinct. Your Observer Artifacts are NFTs — each one is proof that you voted in a specific episode, carrying a permanent record of which side you were on and whether it won.

What is a hackathon?

A hackathon is a focused sprint where developers, writers, and designers build something real from scratch — usually over a few weeks. Eigenthrope was conceived and built during an XRPL Commons hackathon. Every transaction the game sends to the ledger carries a source tag that permanently links it to the event that brought it into existence.

The Record

Register your observation. The record will vindicate you.

Seal a theory about the mystery and its fingerprint is written to the ledger — timestamped, unreadable, permanent. Nobody sees what you observed. Everyone sees that you observed something, and when. When the story proves you right, reveal it: the ledger will testify you saw it first. The Record holds across every episode and universe of the story — sealed until you speak, remembered until the end.

Eigenthrope does not use email or passwords. Xaman lets you connect, sign observations, build Resonance, and keep future artifacts in a wallet you control.

2. Create or import an XRPL account
If Xaman shows recovery information, write it down somewhere offline. Eigenthrope cannot recover your wallet for you.

3. Activate the account with XRP
New XRPL accounts need a small XRP reserve before they can sign normal transactions. This is an XRP Ledger requirement, not an Eigenthrope fee.

4. Return here and connect
Press Connect Xaman Wallet, approve the connection in Xaman, then sign your first observation when you vote.

Each vote sends 1 drop of XRP, or 0.000001 XRP, to the Eigenthrope vault and also pays the tiny XRPL network fee shown in Xaman. If 1 XRP were worth $1, 1 drop would be $0.000001.

Eigenthrope will never ask for your secret numbers, recovery phrase, family seed, or private key. Only sign requests you understand.
